Pilar A. Bradshaw, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Passionate, caring and personal, Dr. Pilar Bradshaw believes in family and the ability of parents to embrace the joys and challenges of raising children. She treats every child the way she would want her own son or daughter treated. And she tells every mother and father what she would want to be told as a parent. Sensitive and straightforward, Pilar puts children and their parents at ease.

Doctor

Dr. Pilar Bradshaw is a board certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She began her medical practice in Eugene in 1999.

Pilar practices the full spectrum of pediatric medicine and sees patients from birth to young adulthood. Her special interests include the treatment of asthma, medically fragile children and adolescent eating disorders. If your child is hospitalized, she offers continuous care by being there when you and your child need her most.

Curious and highly motivated, Pilar received her medical degree at Oregon Health Sciences University, where she graduated class valedictorian and was vice president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

At the University of Oregon, Pilar graduated summa cum laude as the female valedictorian with a double major in chemistry and music. As a junior, she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and was named Outstanding Chemistry Student both her freshman and senior years.

Teacher

Dynamic and engaging, Pilar loves sharing her knowledge and experience with new parents, by helping them discover the wonders of their child. During her pediatric residency at Oregon Health and Sciences University, she was twice voted the Outstanding Resident Teacher for all medical specialties.

Mother, Daughter

As a wife and mother of two, Pilar understands the challenges and rewards of parenthood. Her husband, Dr. Paul Benda, who is also a pediatrician, shares her passion for medicine and children. Jack and Liesl are their greatest joy in life; they also make excellent on-the-job trainers for their pediatrician parents! Dr. Bradshaw also has always been inseparably close to her parents, Drs. Christina Holzapfel and William Bradshaw, who run an internationally recognized genetics lab at the University of Oregon.

Musician

Pilar's zeal for classical music flourished as a child. Her violin performance studies began at age 4. In 1987, she joined the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra as the youngest instrumentalist in its history. For 23 consecutive seasons, she has performed with the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra, playing a violin made by her great grandfather. She recently founded a non-profit classical chamber music group, Chamber Music Amici.

Believer

For more then a decade, Pilar has watched children face medical challenges. Witnessing this has only strengthened her belief in their limitless strength, resilience and positive spirit. She also believes in parents, their ability to shape successful families, and their willingness to embrace the trials and joys of parenthood. Most of all, she believes in God.

"I'm a person of deep faith," Pilar says. "I feel blessed to be a physician who takes care of people's most treasured gifts, their children. My job has given me so many amazing opportunities to witness miracles and see the grace of God."

Fun Facts

Her first year of college was spent studying violin at the Royal College of Music in London, England. Her original career plan was to run her family’s violin shop in Baltimore, MD.
