Bonnie Root, R.N.

With a passion for helping families thrive, Bonnie Root offers a valuable and unique service to new parents in the community. Bonnie makes house calls, visiting with parents and their babies at home during what she calls "a golden window" - that period after a baby's birth before their first two-week appointment. Meeting with parents in their home setting provides for relaxed, uninterrupted quality time to discuss important issues without outside distractions. Highly skilled in the area of newborn feeding, Bonnie offers education, tips and additional support, including breastfeeding advice. She can spot potential issues early, such as jaundice, and ease concerns for new parents about caring for a newborn.

Registered Nurse

After growing up in the local area, Bonnie graduated from Marist High School in Eugene, Oregon, and earned her nursing degree at Lane Community College. Before joining Eugene Pediatrics, she spent seven years caring for moms and babies in the postpartum unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, then as a pediatric nurse at the hospital. She is also currently the Newborn Baby Care Educator for Women's Care in Eugene and Springfield.

Bonnie has always had a heart for children. Now, as the mom of two young boys, she has an even greater appreciation for the role she plays in the lives of new parents. She understands what it's like when things don't go as planned and the kind of support parents need in those first few weeks of their child's life.

When she finds time for herself, Bonnie enjoys preserving her family's special moments through scrapbooking. Blessed to have her extended family living close by, weekly dinners and family traditions make for prized memory-making.

Outdoors Enthusiast

From the coast to the backcountry, Bonnie and her family take in Oregon's scenic beauty as often as they can. During the summer and fall, they enjoy boating, hiking and exploring local forestland, and finding new places to camp. In the winter, their interests shift to snowboarding.

Fun Facts

Bonnie was on the dance team in high school, winning All-State at the OSAA Dance and Drill State Championships her senior year. She went on to perform with dance companies in the local area. Even now, when she hears a beat, she can't help but move, whether it's dancing with her boys in the kitchen or even the grocery store. Bonnie also loves all things Disney. If she didn't already have an amazing job, her wish would be to play the role of Tinker Bell at Disneyland.
