Jennifer Schumann, M.D., F.A.P.A.
Approachable, supportive and experienced, Dr. Jennifer Schumann is a board-certified child psychiatrist who works closely with providers at Eugene Pediatric Associates to assist children and families with a variety of mental health issues, such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and developmental disorders, including autism. A good listener and communicator, Jennifer believes in helping families identify their strengths to better overcome their challenges and developing a plan for optimal health.
Jennifer graduated cum laude from Oregon State University Honors College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in zoology, with minors in chemistry and anthropology. She earned her Medical Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Medical School and served as chief psychiatric resident at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, where she went on to complete her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.
A mother to two boys, Jennifer’s family keeps her on her toes. Raising her sons has given her a greater perspective and understanding of the joys and trials of parenting, allowing her to better connect with her patients. Recognizing that every child is different allows her to meet families at their level, to offer help and support in ways that work best for them.
With a heart for philanthropy, Jennifer is an active volunteer in the community, serving as a Cub Scout leader, president of her children’s elementary school PTA, Rotary Club board member and 4-H leader. She often volunteers with her children to instill in them the value of helping others.
Jennifer takes time to explore Oregon’s outdoors whenever possible, taking family ski trips in the winter and camping in the summer. To be healthy and relieve stress, she’s an avid runner and has combined it with her devotion for all things Disney by participating in multiple half-marathons at Disneyland and Disney World.
Jennifer enjoys cooking and all varieties of crafting, including screen printing, knitting, cross stitching and quilting. Born and raised in Eugene, she grew up on a sheep farm with an appreciation for animals. Currently, the family has several pets, including four backyard ducks named after characters from Doctor Who.
